Assistant Principal

I have been in the education field for 20 years.  Nine years as a teacher and the past eleven as an assistant principal here at Meade County High School.

A lot of my time is spent with my family involved in sporting events and camping. In my travels I make it a point to eat at locally recommended restaurants.  (Always the best!!!)

I have two children.  Allie, my daughter, is active in high school soccer and high school tennis. She will be a senior this year.  My son, Zach, spends time playing football and basketball and he is beginning this school year as a freshman. Amy, my wife of 20 years, is a 2nd grade teacher at Brandenburg Primay School.

Since graduating from Murray State University in 1989, I taught Math at Maryhurst School in Louisville, Graves County High School in Mayfield and Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville. While at Maryhurst I was an assistant wrestling coach at Waggener High School in Louisville. In my year at Graves County High School, I coached my freshman football team to a perfect record of 11-0. My seven years at Bullitt Central High School were spent coaching soccer for two years and football for five.

I graduated from Fern Creek High School in 1983. I completed my Bachelor's of Science degree in mathematics and teacher certification from Murray State University in May, 1989.  In 1993 I completed my Master's of Education from the University of Louisville.  My administrative certification (Rank I) was completed in 1998 from the University of Louisville.  In 2001, I completed superintendency certification from Western Kentucky University.

Over the past few years, I have begun searching a variety of websites (Family Search, Heritage Quest through the Meade County Library and Roots Web) for family genealogy.  I have confirmed ancestors in the Bogard family back to the late 1700's.  In addition, I have found most of my lineage lived in Bullitt County, Kentucky.  One note of interest, Bogard Island existed on the Salt River near Mt Washington in the early 1800's.  This Island was also near the present day Bogard Lane between Mt Washington and Shepherdsville on Highway 44.  I am still searching a variety of sources.

I also enjoy cooking when I get a chance.  Baking cakes tends to be fun at Christmas!!  When given the time, I like cooking a pot of soup and watching a college football game or two or three.  Besides cooking, I enjoy eating at various restaurants.  My greatest recommendation is Patti's in Western Kentucky (Grand Rivers).  Do not pass up the 2" pork chop!!!  Another recommendation is the Dutch Apple Pie with caramel frosting at The Homeade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen.  Don't forget the cinnamon ice cream.

Camping has become a family favorite since 2007.  Our typical trips include many Kentucky State Parks and campgrounds near lakes.  We have also traveled to Wisconsin and Tennessee with our camper.  The dogs (Annie and Ricki - both female Dachshunds) love the ride and camping.
