Former MCHS student now President of Meade County Bank
Matthew Pike has been named the new President of Meade County Bank. Matthew is a proud lifetime resident of Meade County. He graduated from Meade County High School and Western Kentucky University with a degree in Business Economics. In the spring of 2001, Jim Hines offered Matthew a part time job and so began his banking career. 

Matthew started as a part time teller and has worked his way through almost every position within the bank. Over the last 18 years, his duties have grown tremendously and he is grateful for the opportunities he has been given. Matthew is passionate about his career and takes his job and his community involvement very seriously. He stated, "Being a community banker is one of the most rewarding jobs in a small town. A community banker is more than a loan originator; you're an advisor, counselor, confidant, a shoulder to lean on and a friend." Congratulations, Matthew!
Justin "Pooh" Sipes wins Greensboro Monster Jam, Louisville KY is Next

Meade County High School alum, Justin "Pooh" Sipes is winning on the track, no longer a motorcycle track but a Monster Truck track.  Most recently he won the Monster jam Event held in Greensboro NC.  The next stop on the monster jam tour is Louisville Kentucky on January 20 and 21.  The Flaherety native will be driving Megalodon one of the newest trucks in competition this season.  Read Justins full Q/A (READ MORE)

MAYPORT, Fla. (NNS) -- A Sailor assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) has been chosen as the Navy's recipient for the USO's George Van Cleave Military Leadership Award.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Cundiff, of Louisville, Kentucky, will receive the award based upon his actions the evening of Oct. 8, in which he served as master helmsman and maneuvered the 40,000-ton ship -- and the 1,600 Sailors and Marines aboard -- safely through the Chesapeake Bay waters during a period of high winds and seas.

A lot of the success came as sophomore Chaselyn Allgeier flexed her muscle in the leadoff spot as the designated player. Her banner season led to a new pinnacle for the Tiger program. For the first time in the 102-year history of the International Six Days Enduro, an American rider has claimed the individual overall win. That American is Ryan Sipes, Meade Countian and former Greenwave.  To read the rest of the story (click here)

On Monday morning 5/12/14, it was announced that sophomore center fielder/pitcher Ally Foster and junior catcher Scarlett Powers had been selected to the first team on the Daktronics, Inc. Softball All-Midwest Region Teams. It marks the first time in program history that the Knights have had two players chosen to the Daktronics first team in the same year.

On Sunday August 25, 2013 Tiffany (Cross) Dill was a participant in the Louisville leg of the Ironman Triathlon. The race involves a 2 1/2 mile swim, then a transition to a 112 mile bike ride, then transition to a full marathon of 26.2 miles. Tiffany finished the race with a time of 16:03.40. The effort and dedication it takes to complete a full triathlon is amazing and Tiffany has a strong support crew of family and friends. Tiffany called the race "the most difficult thing I have ever done." The Greenwave Nation is proud!


Greenwave Alum Mike Addesa is a walk-on linebacker playing for the University of Louisville Cardinals.  As part of the Countdown to Kickoff on the Louisville sports blog The Card Chronicle Mike was featured on Day 50.  Once again another Meade County High graduate making waves in the world. Meade County High School alumni, John Cebak, and his girlfriend were selected to be participants on the Nivea Kiss Stage during New Years Eve 2012 in Times Square, NYC.  The NBC broadcast was the stage for a dramatic moment in Johns life.  Host Mario Lopez and the whole nation watched as the events unfold.

B.J. Rosenberg came to MCHS and during his Freshman year of high school he quickly made his presence known on the mound.  He signed and played college baseball with the University of Louisville and was an integrel part of their CWS experience.  He is currently on the Philadelphia Philies active roster.  Read and check out B.J.'s stats and watch the videos by clicking this link.

Korin Kormick is gaining recognition as an emerging artist skilled in opera, oratorio, and art song.  Her unique voice and vivid theatricality fully command the stage in repertoire ranging from tragic to comedic, from Baroque elegance to 21st-century premieres.  She currently resides in New York City.

Originally from Meade County, Lindsey Roberts Haukom has been married to her high school sweetheart Ben for 3 years. They now reside in Louisville where they enjoy experiencing the liveliness of the city.

Lindsey is a recent graduate from Spalding University, has her Bachelor Degree in Nursing, is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing National Honors Society, and works at Norton Audobon Hospital.

MCHS alumnus Sonya Stith-Williams lives in New York state in Syracuse.  Sonya recently organized a symphonic flash mob at the Destiny Mall in Syracuse mto bring attention to the financial issues surrounding the Syracuse Symphony.  Please watch, listen and enjoy as the flash mob enthralls the holiday shoppers.  Sonya is the last violinist to enter the mob on the floor, she is wearing a white sweater.



Ryan Sipes is new to the Rockstar Energy Racing team. For 2013, he will be competing in the 250 West Coast Championship. As a Kentucky native, he’s living out in Southern California to prepare for the fast-approaching season. And yes, Sipes can freeride with the best of them.

Ryan Sipes is a former Greenwave who has made a big spash in the world of competition motorcycle racing.  Enter Ryans name into You Tube and multiple videos are available.  The above press statement is from his recent addition to the Rockstar Racing team, congratulations to Ryan.

Greenwave Alum earns honors

Sophomore Bo Wilson earned Air Force Athletics co-Athlete of the Week honors for competition during the week of May 5-11. Wilson led Air Force baseball to a 2-1 series win over San Jose State over the weekend.
